All public service interpreters/translators are required to be registered with the NRPSI, NRPST or/and PAIT. BSL interpreters/translators are required to be registered with either the NRCPD or RBSLI. The only exceptions are: Conference Interpreters, Students, Retired and Associates.

Members are expected to maintain their registration with their relevant regulatory bodies throughout their membership with the AIT. Those who lapse their registration will be automatically removed from the AIT. It is the individuals’ responsibility to ensure their registration does not lapse.

Associate Membership is for individuals / organisations who/which do not provide commercial service and are interested in the services provided by Interpreters and Translators.

Associate Membership is designed to support such individuals / organisations with professional guidance on best practice, standards and Code of Conduct of Interpreters and Translators.
