Events & Training FAQs
Do I need to register for events if I am a member of AIT?
A quick reminder that the full CPD programme is available to you at no cost. You will receive the joining link 1–3 days prior to each event. Registration via Eventbrite is NOT required, except for the following events: Joint Training with Negotiators, London Legal Walk (our annual fundraiser), AGM, hybrid events and social events.
Should you wish to make a donation, please pay directly into the AIT account using the reference “donation”.
Can non-members attend AIT events and training sessions?
Most AIT events are open to non-members; however, some events may be subject to a fee. Certain events may also be restricted to members only.
How do I book an AIT event or training session?
Bookings can be made through the AIT Eventbrite Page or via the registration link provided in the event announcement.
Are AIT events delivered online or in person?
AIT offers both online and in-person events. Delivery methods are clearly stated in the event information.
Will I receive certificates of attendance?
We would like to kindly remind our members that, since April 2026, we have changed the way we issue CPD certificates. If you wish to receive a certificate of attendance, you must request it by emailing us at chairman@ait-professionals.com at least 24 hours before the event.
Non-members will need to book the appropriate ticket via our Eventbrite page, selecting the option “General Admission & Certificate of Attendance.”
Can I access recordings or presentation materials after an event?
Where available and with the speaker’s permission, recordings and presentation materials may be shared with participants after the event. Members who are unable to attend must request recordings by emailing us at chairman@ait-professionals.com at least 24 hours before the event.
What is the cancellation and refund policy for events and training?
Cancellation and refund arrangements may vary depending on the event. Full details are provided at the time of booking. Our standard policy is no refunds.
How do I find out about upcoming events and training opportunities?
Upcoming events are promoted through the AIT website, AIT Eventbrite Page, newsletters and social media channels.
Professional Development FAQs
Does AIT provide Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities?
Yes. AIT offers a range of CPD opportunities throughout the year, including online and in-person presentations and joint training events.
Does AIT offer mentoring or supervision opportunities?
AIT periodically offers professional supervision initiatives where available.
Does AIT support newly qualified interpreters and translators?
Yes. AIT is committed to supporting early-career professionals through training, networking and professional development opportunities.
Are AIT training courses accredited or recognised?
All AIT events are recognised by NRPSI, and some events focusing on interpreting and translating for police are also recognised by PAIT. Where applicable, the relevant logo(s) will be displayed on certificates of attendance.
Are there networking opportunities available through AIT membership?
Yes. Members can connect with colleagues through conferences, events, webinars and other networking activities.
When will I receive my certificate of attendance or completion?
Members who requested a Certificate of Attendance and attended the event will receive their certificate of attendance, which will be sent to you within four working days after the event by our Certificate Coordinators from the following email membershipsecretary@ait-professionals.com.
What should I do if I have not received my certificate?
Please check your spam or junk folder before contacting AIT at chairman@ait-professionals.com, providing details of the event.

What is the Medical Interpreting Training Programme?
The Medical Interpreting Training Programme is a specialist training programme designed to develop the knowledge and skills required for professional medical interpreting.
Who can apply for the Medical Interpreting Training Programme?
The programme is open to seasoned interpreters, those at the start of their careers, students, and anyone wishing to consider another area of specialism.
Do I get a discount for the Medical Interpreting Training Programme if I am a member of AIT?
Members are eligible for discounted fees (please contact us at chairman@ait-professionals.com). Non-members should refer to the programme information for current pricing.
Is the Medical Interpreting Training Programme accredited?
No. The Medical Interpreting Training Programme is not an accredited qualification. It is a training programme aimed at continuing professional development and upskilling.
It is a joint initiative by NRPSI, Cleveland Clinic London, London Metropolitan University, and AIT.
How long does the programme take to complete?
Programme duration varies depending on the structure and delivery schedule. It normally takes eight weeks, with attendance required one day per week. Please check our Eventbrite Page for full details.
Will I receive a certificate upon completion of the programme?
Only participants who have attended all seven sessions and completed the assessment (i.e. Session 8) will receive their certificate of completion.
Is the programme delivered online or in person?
The delivery format is specified for each cohort and may be online, in person or hybrid.
What level of interpreting experience is required to join the programme?
The programme is open to seasoned interpreters, those at the start of their careers, students, and anyone wishing to consider another area of specialism.
Joint Training Exercises FAQs
Do I need to register for joint training exercises with police negotiators?
Yes. Advance registration is required for all joint training exercises.
What is the selection process for joint training exercises?
Places are allocated through an application and selection process based on the exercise requirements, including language pair, qualifications and other relevant criteria, as well as the number of places available.
Who can apply to participate in joint training exercises?
Eligibility criteria are published for each exercise and may include membership, qualifications and relevant experience.
How often are joint training exercises organised?
Exercises are organised twice/three times a year, subject to operational availability and partner collaboration.
Are places limited for joint training exercises?
Yes. Due to the practical nature of these exercises, participant numbers are usually limited.
Will I receive a certificate of participation for attending a joint training exercise?
Yes. Participants normally receive a certificate of participation.
Is prior experience required to participate in joint training exercises?
Requirements vary depending on the exercise. Details will be included in the application information.
